Russell Westbrook partnered with Citizens Caring for Children to provide a Christmas party and gifts to eighty children in foster care this holiday season. With support from the Jordan Brand the Russell Westbrook Why Not? Foundation was able to provide each child with new shoes and backpacks.
“Now that I am in a position to help, I am honored to partner with Citizens Caring for Children to make a difference in the community,” Westbrook said. “I hope every child regardless of their circumstances will dream big and say Why Not?”
The party included a visit from Santa, ornament making, pizza, and other treats for the children.
“There are more than 9,000 children in Oklahoma’s foster care system today,” said Amy Mitchell, executive director of CCC. “On average, these children move up to three times per year. Many of them wonder if Santa will know where they are on Christmas morning. It is our hope that each and every one of these children has the opportunity to experience the joy of Christmas, because they truly deserve the chance at a better life.”
